STITCHES TOMBUCTÚ, THREADS OF LIGHT

Created by Egbert-Jan Lam of Netherlands-based Burojet Design Studio, Stitches is a family of two well-hemmed pendants: Djenné and Bamako. Each light is named after a city or town in Mali, West Africa. Mali has a long history as a producer of embroidery, its many skilled artisans—found throughout Djenné and Bamako—adept at needlework.

The Stitches pendants impart an appealing bohemian air, their warm wood veneer panels embroidered with peeping threads of light. Crafted with passion and precision, Djenné and Bamako hint at the simple beauty found in Malian embroidery.

buroJET Design Studio

Egbert-Jan Lam founded buroJET in 2001, establishing a design studio that reflects his innovative and playful approach to design. Based in Arnhem, the Netherlands, Lam has showcased his work internationally, participating in major design exhibitions with Droog and the Design Academy Eindhoven, and exhibiting in cities like Milan, New York, Hong Kong, and London. BuroJET specializes in developing original concepts and products for both its own label and for diverse national and international clients. Lam views design as a fundamental connection between humans and objects, aiming to create pieces that resonate with users on a personal level. While deeply committed to his craft, he brings a lighthearted perspective to his work, valuing humor as a key element in both life and design. This philosophy infuses buroJET’s creations with a sense of warmth and approachability, making his designs both functional and delightfully engaging.
