Martín Azúa is a Spanish designer and artist born in the Basque Country, working between Barcelona and the Azores. With a background in Fine Arts, his practice is defined by a speculative and experimental approach, where objects become tools to explore the relationship between nature, materials and human experience. His work is often inspired by natural processes and everyday rituals, resulting in designs that balance conceptual depth with functional clarity.
Alongside his conceptual practice, Azúa is strongly committed to craftsmanship, collaborating with artisans across disciplines to preserve material diversity and traditional knowledge within contemporary design. His work has been exhibited internationally and is included in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York, including the acclaimed Basic House project. Through a refined and thoughtful approach, he creates objects that transcend function, reflecting on sustainability, perception and our evolving relationship with the environment.
